R.E.

At Kestrels’ Field we follow the agreed SACRE syllabus which aims to provide for the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of our children. Through discussion, practical activities and creative tasks children are able to explore some of life’s ‘big questions’ and both express and listen to different opinions about them.

A key component of our learning in R.E. is to help children develop an understanding of the beliefs and practices of the different faith groups that make up both our school and our city. This takes place during units of work across the key stages, but as a part of this, children also have the opportunity to visit the places of worship of the city’s most prominent faith groups. In addition, we take great pride in celebrating some of the major festivals of Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and Sikhism, as a part of which each year group prepares an item to perform to the rest of the school on the Friday nearest to the date of the festival.

Year 6 explore why we care about nature ... on the tables!

Year 3 use emotion graphs to think about a story exploring empathy and choices.

Year 2 discuss creation stories and share their opinions about them.
